My kids amaze me. Honestly amaze me. Ok, so all children are amazing, the way they grow, they develop; physically, mentally, emotionally...
But honestly, my kids amaze me!
Take Alex, for example. He is growing up to be such a wonderful young man. Ok, yes, he has moments where if I could give him away, I might just have to think about it real hard... but on most days, he's such a little man. He is almost 7, and is in Year 2 at school now. His reading level far outreaches where he should be at his age. And while his teachers know this, I don't think they have a full understanding of what he is capable of.
Ok, what is she on about, you're saying to yourself, but honestly. Ok, take this example: at school he is given a free-reading book (which incidentally is not the highest level) with 60 pages. At home he reads out of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale book... it's a novel style book, the adult version, no pictures... he reads 12 -15 pages a night... tell me that he has let his teachers know how well he really can read, go on, tell me, I dare you.
And Issy, with her 3 big teeth! She's so tall these days, too. And standing.
And Jake, well Jake is a piece of work. He can use the potty, but only when he feels like it. It's just being lazy with Jake.
Emily, she's my only baby anymore! She can't crawl very well yet, at 10.5 months old. She can't stand on her own, and while she can sit up if you place her in the position, she can't sit herself up yet, but gosh is she the sweetest baby on the planet!
So, yes, my children amaze me. A little more each day. And they make me smile a lot these days, too.

Talk about a break...
Ever wonder how it is you manage to lose track of things? I mean, you make a mental note, sometimes a physical note, sometimes even a post-it note, and yet it still manages to slip your mind?
Me, I meant to start blogging, regularly, again. I used to be an avid blogger, years ago. And then I took it down. Started from scratch, and then, somehow, managed to actually forget about it.
I want to look back over the years and have a record of my daily family life, to laugh at, to smile at, to cry and feel proud about... and I have saved my old logged blog, but the past few years are a blur. We've managed to add 3 more children to the mix, and I can barely remember the morning by the time the afternoon hits, there is so much going on.
So, I am going to make more of an effort, really.
So the kidlets, are growing up. Infancy is such an amazing period, because they grow so quickly, change so rapidly, and it goes too fast. I can't believe my girls are almost one. ONE! It's terribly unsettling, because I can still remember the day they were born as if it happened 5 minutes ago. Isabel is crawling, standing and cruising... Emily is, well, she has the world's cutest slug crawl, ever! Bless her, her yummy tummy hardly gets off the ground when she crawls, my littlest angel!
The boys, well, Jake goes to nursery 2 days a week this term, then 5 in January. And Alex is in Year 2 already. Such a good reader, such a great helper, despite the complaining that comes with being a 6-year-old boy!
My family, with all the hardships, all the struggles, all the work, is my life, and I love them (even if I say I want to give them all away!)!

coffee break anyone?
It's not often I sit and think about all that I have to do in the day. I mean, lets get serious, if I had time to sit and think about it, I wouldn't manage to get through half of it! Mind, I don't get anywhere near what I should be getting done because boy to I ever revel in coffee breaks!
Take yesterday for example. I had loads to do, in fact because I didn't do it all, I now have an even bigger load to do today! In the wee hours of the morning, I often have a list of chores to get done to get the hubby and kiddies sorted for the school run. I mean there is getting breakfast on the table, which, if time is short, I often push Chris into doing (which of course means a well-rounded breakfast of cereal). Yesterday was a porridge morning, what with it being cold and rainy. Really rainy.
So, I made Alex's lunch, got him sorted with his uniform, went around the house like a chicken with its head cut off because he'd mentioned last minute that he couldn't find his reading book for literacy, changed Jake's nappy, got the twins nappies changed and then got them dressed, got Jake dressed, then proceeded to run around like said chicken with out head again when I noticed Jake has a basketful of unmatched pairs of shoes! Wellies it is! I gave the girls their breakfast, but their jackets on, put them in the mega-buggy, got Jake's jacket on, and got Alex off to school when his mate and his mate's mummy came a-collecting!
Not done yet, folks! Put Jakey in the mega-buggy, got the raincover sorted (which almost gave me a panic attack because it's tight fitting on a good day, and trying to fit it inside an overly cluttered garage was no picnic), and finally, finally got it all zipped up.
Phew!
Now to find my waterproof jacket, where did that thing go again, oh here we go again! Ahaa! Ok, so out the front door, open the garage from outside, and "Hi kids!" Then off to nursery. Dropped Jakey off, and before I'd gotten there, nevermind back home, I was soaked straight though.
Ok, so it's half past 9. I got The kids off to school. I was soaked straight through, the girls wanted bottles, and I needed a nap! No naps though!
But... a much needed coffee break.
See, that is how you justify a coffee break! :)
Speaking of which, I can hear the coffee coming up, must run!
